I liked Yolanda the best -- and I liked her early on when she was first introduced as someone who had a "voice like a hug", which I think is the most awesome analogy for someone. Don't we all know someone whose very voice is comforting? Yolanda seemed to be the most upfront person who laid it all out. Matty hid his feelings about everything -- his attraction to Billy's wife, his disappointment with his sons, his frustration with his upper management. Yolanda, however, never seemed to mind telling someone how she felt -- about them criticizing her under privileged upbringing or the way she legitimately mothered the "kids" that were being jailed. I liked her getting them snacks, being rough and interrogative first then softening to them, rubbing their shoulders and seeming to know just what to say to them to have them open up.
Truthfully, I did not connect with any of the characters. I thought that Eric needed to grow a backbone and Matty needed to start thinking about the people he was responsible for. He should have confronted his sons when he found the trunk of their car full of dope.
